In NYC public schools have settled a lawsuit with a 15 year old girl who was suspended for wearing a Tshirt that said "Barbie is a Lesbian". Students will now be allowed to wear clothing with political slogans on them - a constitutional right. The girl's mother had sued the city over her right to express her views when the girl was suspended and threatened continue suspension for wearing the Tshirt. The city's new policiy is double sided however, sensitive to gay rights but for example, a student to wear a T-shirt that says the war with Iraq was wrong is OK, but T-shirts praising Osama Bin Laden must be turned inside-out.
